Abstract text:

    Harvesting energy from our natural environment has been the focus of multiple research efforts in the past decades. Progress in this field has far-reaching implications for the growing environment problems resulting from greenhouse gas emission of fossil fuels. Furthermore, advances in portable energy scavenging devices will shed light on the development of self-powered and autonomous electronics; which will impact a broad range of applications in wireless sensors, biomedical implants, infrastructure monitoring, and portable/wearable electronics. This presentation explores the designs, fabrications, simulations, characterizations and applications of a new type of flexible thin film nanogenerator based energy harvesting technologies and self-powered wearable electronics.

 

About the lecturer:

   李巍,现为美国加州大学伯克利分校电子工程与计算机科学学院和劳伦斯国家实验室博士后学者(Postdoctoral Scholar)。在华中科技大学机械科学与工程学院获得本科、博士学位,随后在美国密歇根州立大学获得第二个博士学位。曾任职于美国Seagate Technology公司(资产820亿美元)。以第一作者身份在《Nature Communications》、《Nano Energy》等国际学术杂志发表论文。作为第一作者的研究成果得到世界范围内的广泛报道:中国权威报道包括《新华社》、《人民日报》等,国际权威报道包括《华尔街日报》、《基督教科学箴言报》、《美国国家科学基金会官网》、《每日邮报》、《美国之音》等。接受过美国全国公共广播电台(NPR)的专访;因科研成果突出,以华人身份为美国密歇根州立大学拍摄过在全美播放的电视广告;海报广告在芝加哥、底特律国际机场展示。至今在美国和中国共发表九篇专利,是多个权威学术期刊的审稿人。
